For a summer getaway this year the Pezzelle family, the kids and I all piled into our respective SUV's and headed over to the coast (Thank heavens for Bill and Bette's generosity!). We spent a week in Carlsbad relaxing. Ahhh... We made all the usual stops while we were there....Pizza Port the first night (a delicious tradition), Moonlight Beach, Las Olas, La Jolla Cove and Thrifty Ice Cream, as well as some new stops that will now also have to be tradition.... The Farmer's Market on State Street. I absolutely LOVE it. It's what a farmer's market should look like, fresh fruit and veggies, flowers and artisan breads and cheeses. Nothing at all like a "farmer's market" at home. There wasn't a windchime or dreamcatcher to be seen and the kids loved the balloon animal guy that made them all swords to do battle with. We also went to the U-Pick Strawberry Field around the corner from the house. The one we always say we are going to visit and never do. The kids loved that too. Emi had a friend from home come over with her mom and sisters to stay with us for a spell too. Amy really wanted to take the kids to Seaworld and we did. I figure Travis would be relieved if we let him off that hook and I have wanted to go see Shamu forever. It was not exactly a relaxing theme park trip what with two adults and six kids, but everyone was pretty well behaved and we didn't loose anyone so I call it a success! Megan and the rest of the Pezzelle clan took the opportunity to have some family time without all the rest of us around. She isn't a huge Seaworld fan anyhow.
