Team Party Time!

Coach Travis and his Bees. One last hurrah!
We collectively decided to throw the kids team party at Native New Yorker partly because they were our team sponsor (seemed like the right thing to do) and mostly because the adults could sneak a beer or two. It is a party after all! At any rate, the kids had a great time. They loved getting trophies. I think the first trophy for most of them. Even Coach got a trophy. The parents pooled a gift card for him and they had all the kids on the team sign a ball for him, very thoughtful. One of his assistants even had a special trophy/ball holder made to hold the ball. It was so very sweet of them! After eating and celebrating they all ran around like crazed animals and then everyone went home. The end.

The Last T-Ball Game

It's the middle of May. It's a gorgeous cool morning and it's Billy's last T-Ball game for the season. Way back in February when I was nervously signing him up for his very first organized sport ever I was thinking, "May, wow that seems like a really long time from now. It's gonna be hot and miserable and what if he hates it...?" Long story short, he LOVED it. Of course, I mean what could I possibly have been nervous about? He has been bombarded with baseball since birth and Coach Dad was by his side for every game. AND, and, the weather! Oh my goodness, the weather! It was a beautiful spring. I think it lasted until the middle of June. I could not have ordered nicer weather. I must admit writing this post in August...Now June feels like an eternity away. It's funny because when the weather does cooperate and last well into June you can kind of trick yourself into thinking, "summer won't be so bad! It's already June we can only have three months of miserable if it gets hot right this minute." Summer is always hot, it always lasts too long and it always seems as though there is no relief in sight. A rant for another day though...

Coffee and bagels before the game.

The totally awesome banner Blue made for us.

and the team! 13 little ball-ers looking adorable in uniform.

One of my favorite parts of any game. The good sportsmanship hand slap at the end. After each game Travis let all the kids run the bases and slide into home plate. It could possibly have been their favorite part of the game too. They suddenly had the motivation to move around those bases that a few lacked during the game.

Love that muddy knee! It was a great season!
