Bates Nut Farm. Quite possibly (I know I probably say this about everything) my new most favorite place!! We discovered it on a fluke over Fall Break while Megan, all the kids and I were at the
Beatsch House (which for the record is also on my most favorite place list). As I said before we had a cloudy cool day and still had the Farmer's Market high on our minds...seemed like a perfect day to find a pumpkin patch. So, after a little sleuthing we found San Diego County's oldest pumpkin patch. Only about 20 miles away. We all piled in the car in our warm cozy clothes and with the wagon and we were off. Worth a try anyway, right? The oldest pumpkin patch around. Seems right up my alley, Megan's too. After winding through the mountains (hills) east of Escondido and past a lake on a narrow two lane road we found it. The greatest pumpkin patch EVER!!! Totally not prepared for the mass crowds and the much warmer weather we piled out of the car and proceeded to wander around like kids in a candy store. We were also completely not prepared to find that all the pumpkins were what we Arizonians would classify as ginormous. Huge, beautiful, orange monsters! So excited! I made the kids climb all over the place just so I could take pictures of pumpkins. It was more than we were prepared for...we had to leave. We needed to get some realistic ideas about how much space we actually had available so we could come back on our way home with all our stuff crammed in the car -6 kids, 2 adults and our luggage with just enough space leftover to fit a few gigantic beauties!
I LOVE FALL.
